About the event

Solidarity Solstice

Several Phoenixville-based resistance groups and activists, including Singing Resistance Phoenixville and Artists Against ICE, are planning a day-long concert at The Gem in Spring City, PA. The concert will raise money for immigrant non-profits and spotlight organizations that are making a difference in this very scary and frustrating time.

Tentative Schedule

12-12:45 pm Kat Rivers  and Second Sight DUO

KAT RIVERS AND THE SECOND SIGHT is a Philadelphia-based blues rock band known for their show-stopping live performances, powerhouse vocals, and tight musicianship. Led by front woman Kat Rivers and featuring Ric Haas (guitar), Ava Esrich (bass), and Bob Bradford (drums), their music showcases the jaw-dropping range of Rivers' vocal style while incorporating the raw rock and roll edge of the Second Sight. Their music has invoked comparisons to Led Zeppelin, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, and Heart.

Shortly after the marking of the band's 1st anniversary, Kat Rivers and the Second Sight released their debut 4-song EP, "Deception". The EP asserts the band's blues rock sound while incorporating influences of funk, jazz, country, and even metal in their original songs "Broken Promised Land", "Smooth Talkin'", "When You Meet the Devil", and "Private Showing".

1-1:20 pm - Singing Resistance PXV

We are a group of singers, songwriters, and community leaders who are passionate about using our voices to strengthen peaceful protests and demonstrations with songs that are accessible to all. We partner with the Phoenixville Liberation Center, Diversity In Action, and local immigrant groups to identify and address our community’s needs. We create, learn, and teach songs that give voice to our grief, rage, solidarity, and commitment to a peaceful and equitable world for all. Because our mission and principles align with the Singing Resistance group that is fighting a violent fascist takeover in Minnesota, whose work inspires us and whose songs we add to our own, we honor them by joining their movement and using Singing Resistance Phoenixville as our name.
